Samar [name changed] had planned several important works for the weekend. He felt feverish on the eve. His stomach was also upset. As most of us do, he took some paracetamol tablets. He also applied some balm on his forehead, back and shoulders. But, he didn’t feel relieved. He is a senior professional in broadcast technology.
Lado, as I call my niece, is now fine. She is 3-year-old. For the last three days she was suffering from vomiting, loose motion and fever.
Samar is fine now. He has joined office. When he visited doctor he was told that his condition worsened due to food poisoning. He took medicines as prescribed and cured. He also suffered minor diarrhoea, but he ignored as he focused on fever.
Lado’s condition was almost similar. She also suffered fever but it was vomiting and diarrhoea which dominated. She was brought to a Pediatrician, who administered some drops and injection.
Why Samar was cured soon but Lado took more time?
The doctor told Samar to consume ORS [Oral Re-hydration Salt] frequently. The doctor had warned that if he failed to do so, he’d be hospitalized. He followed instructions, because he had to be in office ASAP.
Lado didn’t took ORS. Whenever, it was offered, she just spitted every spoon of liquid. The parents tried hard to make her consume even a little ORS if possible.
By the way both are fine now. Samar has joined his office and Lado her friends.
